Helen is an experienced teacher having run evening classes for the Local Authority and, until her relocation to Shropshire, she was a regular contributor to the Short Course Programme at West Dean College near Chichester. She now runs occasional courses from her studio in Bishops Castle where she also offers accommodation if required.
Stained Glass is a captivating artistic craft combining beauty with practicality. Whilst on a beginners course you will be introduced to essential skills; design, glass cutting, lead work and finishing, many of Helen’s students go on to more advanced study, experimenting with glass painting and sandblasting. They make windows for their own homes, a few even setting up a new commercial venture accepting commissions of their own!
A two day introductory course costs £200 when you will make a decorative hanging panel approximately 40 centimetres square and using a variety of beautiful glass from Helen’s extensive collection. The cost includes all tuition, materials, tea/coffee and plenty of fun and support amongst a maximum group of six students. For those wanting to advance their practice Helen also offers tuition in sandblasting and glass painting.
