‘Stained Glass’ is an umbrella term used for many types of window, usually but not always made from multi-coloured glass. There are myriad techniques available giving artists the opportunity to develop a distinctive style.
It may be a simple ‘leaded light’, a front door for example, coloured glass cut to a pattern then assembled with lead. Price will depend upon the complexity of the design and the quality of glass used.
More complex windows are made by cutting glass in the same way but then adding all manner of surface decoration before leading together. Such windows are necessarily more expensive and are generally commissioned for exhibition or for grander settings for example larger houses, churches and other public buildings.
